A place where children feel known, supported and excited to learn.
Choosing a primary school is an important decision. At Glen Iris Primary School (GIPS), we understand that families are looking for a school where their child will feel safe, confident and genuinely cared for while also being challenged to grow.
We are proud to offer a calm, inclusive learning environment where strong relationships, clear teaching and wellbeing go hand in hand.

What your child will experience at GIPS
At GIPS, children are supported to:
-
Feel known and valued as individuals
-
Learn in calm, structured and engaging classrooms
-
Build confidence, resilience and independence
-
Develop positive relationships with peers and adults
-
Enjoy learning and take pride in their progress
When children feel secure and supported, they are able to take risks, ask questions and learn deeply.

Learning at GIPS
Learning at Glen Iris Primary School is purposeful and engaging. Teachers use explicit instruction alongside hands-on experiences, discussion and collaboration to support strong understanding and steady progress.
Clear routines and high expectations help children feel confident in the classroom, while lessons are carefully planned to meet a range of learning needs. We value effort, curiosity and growth, and support children to learn from mistakes in a safe and respectful environment.

Supporting every child
Every child learns and develops differently. Our teachers take the time to understand each student’s strengths, interests and needs, and provide support or challenge as required.
Wellbeing is embedded in everyday practice at GIPS. Children are explicitly taught social and emotional skills, supported to regulate their emotions, and guided to build respectful relationships. We work closely with families to ensure children feel supported both at school and at home.

A day in the life at GIPS

Starting school at GIPS
Beginning primary school is a big milestone. Our transition programs are designed to support children and families as they move into Prep, helping children become familiar with routines, staff and the school environment before they start.
We take a gentle, thoughtful approach and work in partnership with families to ensure each child has a positive and confident start to school life.
